I love characters who make me want to be their friends…!!!

For long I had this wish to put a tick mark against one of my bucket list wish – to watch a movie alone. At first it  started as a thought of doing something fun and crazy cause who really goes for movies alone? But I never had the courage because I thought watching a movie alone is the saddest thing in the world and no matter how sad my life goes I will never do this.

Life heard me, laughed and said CHALLENGE ACCEPTED…

So, when life hits you that Ace you just have to stand there and wonder what happened to your backhand. Anyhow, I did reached that point where one fine day I just booked a ticket and went alone. I was nervous, little excited and kind of scared because I had no idea how to just go there, sit and watch a movie with no one to look at, when there is something funny or sad or scary on the big screen. But, it wasn’t bad in fact it was liberating. I know a tiny part of  me from the old-me is kind of dying right now in some corner of my head reading these words, but honestly it was the best thing that I ever did for me.

This Saturday when I sat there in an almost empty theater watching Age of Adaline on the big screen, I realized what a magical world we have in the movies. They make you forget everything that pushes you to that dark corner of the road and make you want to live forever singing it’s-a-beautiful-world. The stories and characters and emotions on that big screen in a dark hall are so majestic and beautiful that for those 2 some hours world feels good, nice, kind and even a gift.

There is something about watching a movie on a big screen and for a long time I felt sad for missing on movies because I had no social life, the people I was dependent on had other people, my issues were often making friends unfriend me leaving me all by myself.

I don’t know how sad it sounds but doings things for yourself isn’t sad its fun and liberating. You don’t have too lie to yourself or ignore yourself and give reasons for not being in mood for an outing, because you know you wont leave you for crazy mood swings, socializing issues and crazy self created walls/rules around your life. People would do that to you, you wouldn’t do that to you.

Voices: Adaline?

Me: Fish! sorry…All I wanted to say was watch Age of Adaline. Great movie.

Voices: Was that so hard?

Me: I thought a little history would be good.

Voices: A little? You would have written a book on your sorry life.

Me: I couldn’t have, for a book I would have needed a fictional name, few character introductions and.. Oh! was that sarcasm?

Voices (Rolling eyes)

So, in short I started today’s post with an aim of giving a review of Age of Adaline and how magical I felt while I sat there watching this movie, wondering what a beautiful world a movie creates for us. But, I ended up blabbering. So here I go – I watched Age of Adaline and Blake Lively was flawless, I never much liked her as Serena in Gossip Girl because her character was not the kind I would want to be friends with but I would definitely want to be friends with Adaline.

French Political Prisoner with no French…!!!

It was a good weekend, because I had one of those very rare family movie day where I actually watch a movie in a theatre with my whole family. It’s a very rare phenomenon and very exhausting one but it always makes me feel a little happy, because of the very fact that we don’t do it much.

Apart from the family movie, I have had a weekend where I have spent lazy moments on my sofa with my book. Just pure laziness and book reading. I wrapped up Rose Under Fire.

This is my second Elizabeth Wein book, after reading Code Name Verity I fell in love with her writing. Rose Under Fire starts where Code Name Verity ends, so of course I was expecting to read more of Maddie but this one wasn’t about my favourite pilot Maddie, this was about another pilot who loves poetry as much as I love escaping into day dreams.

I admit, at one point when I realised it wasn’t about Maddie I felt little disappointed because a part of me still lives in page 285 of Code Name Verity but then soon I was drawn into Rose’s Ravensbrück journey.

This one is about French Political Prisoner 51498 with no French and Roza and Irina and Karolina and Lisette and Elodie and even Angel of Death Anna. My favourite scene was when they had to force Roza into that plane. Hard to believe that the worst pain in neck Roza, who wouldn’t even get scared when her name came on list, cried over a plane ride. O sweet snappy Rabbit.

O God! This was one of the most heartbreaking Concentration Camp fictions I’ve ever read. This wasn’t about Jewish prisoners; it was mostly about the other captives the political prisoners, the German criminals, the polish, the Russians and the French. The spys, the pilots, the rabbits.

I fell in love with crazy Roza, even more than the protagonist also named Rose. My heart broke when Maddie said Julie would have died there. O Julie!

Anna’s character was fiction but it wasn’t all that a story. People did terrible things in war but some of them were just unwilling participants who had no way out. Anna’s character kind of reminds me of this 93 years old Nazi guy on trail Oskar Gröning. Real story.

TELL THE WORLD

How they all longed to tell the world and even now the trail of Auschwitz SS Guard Oskar Gröning is about countering the Holocaust deniers. TELL THE WORLD.

My heart aches for the names on the wall of those camps across German captured cities.  And those who were never reported or documented or failed to get mourners because no one knew they died there. I’m just glad Eiffel Tower survived it all. My obsession with concentration camps or holocaust is largely because I feel that so many vanished and went away but no one would know their names, stories or who they were before being gassed, incinerated or shot or turned into lifeless corpse resulting starvation or diseases. Pilots, soldiers, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandparents, kids and just harmless sympathizers of those being erased.

Why Little loves Juno…!!!!

I was driving home from Gotham in my batmobile when the shuffle played a song from Juno’s soundtrack and I couldn’t help but think about the movie and the day I saw it.

There are 5 simple reasons why I love that movie –

1 – Ellen Page

2 – Ellen Page

3 – Ellen Page

4 – Jennifer Garner

5 – It was a good day

Okay, I don’t think I really need to explain first 4 reasons, because I love Ellen Page I think she is a super amazing. I can’t stop respecting her ever since her video of coming out. Well, bravery makes a person little more than extraordinary.

And Jennifer Garner. Well, she is sweet and her role in Juno was something nice.

So now comes the big reason which was actually why I was thinking about the movie today. Imagine you are in a place with no friends and there are these 2 cool kids, who you look up to. Cool kids you wish to hang out with. Cool kids who make you feel accepted, happy and kind of not sad. And one fine day, the cool kids plan a movie day and insist on you joining them. Well, you think it’s silly how can you be a part of fun and cool kids but they actually kind of like you and want you. So you go.

Despite spending a major part of the movie wondering this is actually for real, you do manage to watch the movie. You don’t find the movie that great but you can’t stop liking it because you are happy.

And that’s why when this particular song started playing in my car I couldn’t help but think of the day.

It was a super sonic Weekend, came and left so quickly…!!!!

Where did the weekend go? I mean WHOOSh it came and vanished. Monday is back and  i wish i could get just one more day off. I can’t believe its Gotham day tomorrow.

Anyhow, ‘We are the Millers’ is a fun movie. So funny. The whole theater was laughing like crazy. If you are a Jennifer Aniston fan then i guess you should watch this movie and if you are not you still got to watch this one. I really don’t enjoy movies with so much of swearing and bad words for it ruins the whole thing for me, maybe that’s why i didn’t like Hangover that much and part 2 was unbearable and i didn’t dare watch part 3. Millers has lots of swearing but movie is well made, way too much better than highly irritating (according to me) Hangover.

Tonight i start with Khaled Hosseini’s ‘And the Mountains Echoed’ finally. I like this author and his first book ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ is my all time favorite. It’s so good that its one book i suggest everyone.

Hoping Monday would be kind to all of us.

Goodnight World!

Little is too sad to be scared…!!!!

Saw Conjuring today…not for everyone. Dont think the people I went with will get a goodnight sleep today. 😛

You know why watching a horror movie is a good idea when battling mood swings? You don’t get scared. You are too busy inside your head and thus you actually appreciate the hard work in the movie, for you are not busy closing your eyes or shutting down your ears with your hands on them. True Story!

Sometimes when you are not right, you are not wrong either…you are just different…!!!!

There is a reason why I love going to movies in cinema halls, its one place where I can actually be among people and yet go unnoticed. Sometimes when I’m sitting in the dark with everyone focused on the big screen even my friend sitting next to me, I relax take a deep breath and take my eyes off the big screen and go into a thinking mode. I like to do that when the movie is kind of boring. The whole movie background noise helps my thinking, while I’m busy doing talk-to-self thing.

Anyhow, there is a problem. My mind.

I know I know, you will say Little isn’t that an old problem? But I’m not saying ‘My Mind’ as in all sad and blue mind, I’m saying ‘My Mind’ as in terms of a confused mind. Here I am sitting alone at my room and I’m like what to do?

Mind – Oooh! Watch a movie. You have so many

Mind– No no wait. Finish Arrow. Just few episodes left

Mind– you know what? Fck the movie and shows. Write. Work on your story.

Mind– Edit Jane Doe. Dude! So much work left.

Mind– wait you can write down the scene you worked on mentally while working at Gotham, when everyone was thinking you were busy working. Man! You are multi talented.

Mind– But if you will work a new story, who will work on Jane Doe?

Mind– Hmm, if you do not want to work on Jane Doe. Guess you should go to Dominique. Don’t start new story now. It’s too confusing.

Mind– What’s the time? Oh! You should just leave everything and read the novel maybe.

Mind– But you know if you play a movie now, you can finish it in decent time.

Mind– what decent time? It’s so late. Just watch TV. See if there is something on. Watch something and then sleep. Maybe Modern Family is on or Big Bang.

Mind– you know just let it all go and write. Work on the new story I know you want to do that. One page won’t kill you or anything else. Plus it’s too late for movie and you are too sleepy to read the novel. Do you even remember the name of the characters? Guess not.

So finally after debating and discussing and wasting all my night just thinking about what to do and not to do, I finally ended up writing 600 words of a chapter of a new story. Don’t have a name for it right now so we shall call it ‘The Story’. Its 3:30 now and I think I don’t know what was I doing till now. I guess I will now sleep. I don’t know maybe I should just watch one episode and sleep or I cant simply read a chapter and sleep. For sure I can’t edit Jane Doe at this time of the day with my eyes flickering like a bad bulb from a scary movie scene.

Got to go. Goodnight World!
